FIRST IMPRESSIONS

height. 6'5" build. Tall, broad shouldered and athletic. (Lee Pace in Foundation is a decent approximation of his height/build) hair. Ginger, a bit longer than shoulder length, almost always tied back in a ponytail. eyes. Blue fashion. This bitch loves a cape or, barring that, a long jacket he can swish around like a cape. Anyway these days he's given up the purple/blue and red spandex in favor of a more stylish, tailored look befitting a spoiled rich princeling. distinguishing marks. That damn ponytail. sexuality. ~~Magneto~~ ~~It's Complicated~~ Gay, but desperately tries to convince himself and others that he totally gets down with the ladies, too. marital status. Single and unlovable residence. Krakoa (Post-Krakoa: Madripoor, or the trunk of Mystique's car). Formerly Genosha, Asteroid M, various places idk. At one point, his family banished him to Florida. relatives. Anne-Marie (sister, deceased), and an ultra wealthy family that seems to still be alive and has more or less disowned him. I've given him two unnamed brothers, who are as shitty as he is. He claims to be Spanish nobility, but he's really just an American several generations removed from any such titles or prestige. demeanor. Smug, egotistical, petty, spoiled, insincere, entitled, insecure... Prone to shrieking unhinged tantrums when things stop going his way. He's basically got the most rancid vibes when he's not putting on an act of being a deferential follower or a fanatical cult leader. However, he is sort of trying to grow as a person now, thanks to the painstaking efforts of Nightcrawler. voice. American accent, probably a bit of Californian in his voice (because I've decided he's from the West Coast). He will usually default to a (very insincere) flowery, pretentious, formal way of speaking. However, it's totally affected, and once he drops the act, he just sounds like a regular, casually speaking dude, full of swearing, contractions, slang, and other speech characteristics he'd probably judge as low class coming from anyone else. He's prone to whining and yelling, too. Enjoy the dulcet sounds of his voice as he chews the scenery in the animated series, as a treat. scent. He probably smells like whatever high end products he likes to use for bathing, aftershave, cologne, etc. mental. His brain's just a messy miserable place filled with insecurity and self loathing. medical. Fabian seems to be in pretty great health, with no issues to speak of. Also, he is a mutant, if your character can somehow, like, sense such things.

ABILITIES

POWER MANIPULATION. Cortez has the ability to both augment or dampen other mutants' powers, and so he's basically a living battery. He can also choose infuse his abilities with an addictive quality. His powers can act as a drug, granting temporary 'fixes' that amp one's powers and gives them a good hit of adrenaline, while weakening them in the long run. He can cause other mutants to lose control of their abilities and burn themselves out. This power only works on his fellow mutants, and while he's learned to take advantage of that and use it to make himself indispensable to others, it did cause an inferiority complex and bitterness in him that took root when he was a gawky adolescent, disappointed in his newly manifested powers.
HEALING. Thanks to his resurrection on Krakoa, Cortez's own powers have undergone changes. Where before, he was able to mimic something that felt like healing (see above), these days he can actually heal others for real. Since the fall of Krakoa, he's learned that, for the first time in his life, his mutant powers can work on humans now, too, which must have been a grave disappointment, considering how much he hates them. OH JOY, he can't use his offensive abilities to harm flatscans, but he can cure them of injuries and diseases WHY IS THE UNIVERSE SO CRUEL TO HIM
COMBAT. Fabian's a decent fighter, and has been shown to somewhat hold his own with hand to hand, firearms, and knives. However, he seems to work best when he's fighting dirty, and otherwise tends to get punched, slapped, stabbed, and thrown around a lot. People have, on more than one occasion, resorted to pulling his hair. How undignified...

weeyotch / weeyotch (discord) ACTIVE TIMES/PACE. My tagging schedule tends to be pretty irregular because of work, and I'm more likely to be active before 5 AM (EST) on weekdays. I have periods when I'm totally present and boomeranging regularly, and then I have periods when I can't even look at any of my threads for several days. BRACKETS/PROSE. I default to prose for ease of phone tagging, but my tagging partners can use any style they're comfortable with, no need to match me. It's all good with me either way. OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS. None, though I'll generally avoid scenes or plots that involve cruelty to animals or animals in distress.
BACKTAGGING. Yes please always. I go through periods when I'm very, very slow due to work and after-work obligations, so I rely pretty heavily on backtags. I'm always happy to handwave things, as well. FOURTHWALLING. I'm cool with fourthwalling of Marvel/X-Men in general, but I can't see much reason for any character to fourthwall Cortez, specifically. He's not exactly a Wolverine-tier presence in pop culture! THREAD HOPPING. Go for it. NOT INTERESTED IN. I'm open to any content, plots, AUs, etc, as long as there's communication. The only thing I can't really see much appeal in is, like, sweet, fluffy shipping filled with mutual respect. Cortez isn't quite built for that.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE. Go for it, he practically invites it with his general... everything. INJURIES. Definitely. Again, he practically invites it. DEATH. Sure! He wouldn't be an X-Men character if he didn't die repeatedly and come back with very little explanation. PHYSICAL AFFECTION. He's not used to affection because his personality tends to repulse people, but go ahead! SMUT. Absolutely. Open to ages 25+, preference for men in general, but he's flexible for anyone who'll step on him and call him names. RELATIONSHIPS. I love writing ships and am totally open to it! However, he's a deeply unhealthy, insecure person, so anything more than a quick fling is likely to be toxic until/unless there's a lot of groundwork laid for him to grow as a person and a partner. Then again, I'm a sucker for mutual toxicity and unhealthy relationships, so let's have fun with that. SHIP PREFERENCES. I will never say no to regrettable (hate) sex with Magneto, Quicksilver, Exodus, or any of the Upstarts, but I've also never seen the 616 versions of any of these characters on DWRP so it's a long shot anyway! Or hilarious, messy flings with Sunfire (who Fabian absolutely, definitely wants to fuck), Nightcrawler, uhhhh... honestly any of the eligible bachelors of Krakoa. The setting makes it easy to come up with a reason to hook up. As far as general preferences go, anything contentious or a hatemance gets an instant green light from me, I love messy shit. PSYCHIC & PSIONIC. He has no psychic defenses, so it's open season here. Hell, his insecurity is so obvious that you don't even need to be a telepath to see it. MAGIC. Again, he has no defenses here, go for it.
WARNINGS. Cortez has a history of being a misogynistic creep, using eugenicist language, and has in the past kidnapped, endangered, and threatened to harm a child. These aspects of him haven't really been played up in his Krakoa era appearances, and tbh I have no real interest in writing them. But if it ever comes up, I'll include content warnings for child endangerment, misogyny, eugenics, and other relevant issues.
